I have been reading the same words and phrases for three years now:
“Unprecedented”
“Crosses a red line”
“Last straw”
“Beginning of the end”
“Will not stand”
Etc.
And yet, here we are.
In six month’s time, I will read these same words over a story of Trump at the Federal Reserve in NYC, having Eric and Don Jr. back an armored car up to the loading dock, so he can can stuff it with gold bars which he will then haul to Trump tower. Sternly-worded letter will be written, subpoenas will be issued (and promptly ignored), and the press will write articles with sentences like, “Some critics of the president call this nothing short of brazen daylight robbery, however Senator Lindsay Graham angrily denied this, stating that Trump was only moving the gold for safe keeping.”
And the band will play on.
