Sorry, I have ZERO faith in the future at this point. Comrade Trump (R-Kremlin) is now in control of all branches of government and the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, and what that means is that Vladimir Putin is now in charge of all branches of the U.S. government and the U.S. and Russian nuclear arsenals.
Comrade Trump will waste no time dismantling every New Deal/Great Society program and begins looting the public coffers to benefit his cronies in the U.S. and Russia. The poor and what’s left of the middle class will be squeezed for every penny and the money diverted to the top .001%. Of course this will lead to wholesale destruction of the biosphere, endless wars, and massive economic implosion.
But THEY.DO.NOT.CARE.
Every disaster will be yet another “profit opportunity” for them. And should it ever come to pass that they actually do fail, they still will not care as they will have reduced us all to living in a smoking ruin, and if they can’t live in luxury, having their every whim catered to, then they will see us all suffer and die.
People who place their faith in investigations and impeachments are fooling themselves. Investigations are simply going to stop. The people conducting them will be fired if they insist on a real investigation, or will simply find no problems if they are bent (like Comey). Senate investigations are a joke from day one.
Even if some investigation does manage to unveil actual crimes, the GOP will NEVER impeach Trump. Either they are as corrupt as he is, or they know that Trump’s puppet master has Kompromat on them. Ask yourself why Lindsey Graham and John McCain initially were mad as hornets about Russian interference in the election, demanding an independent investigation, then meekly acquiesced to a partisan sham committee investigation.
The press abdicated its power and responsibility years ago when it decided to join the GOP in trying to bring down Clinton, helped install Bush over Gore and recently gave Trump 24x7 free coverage while trashing Clinton at every turn.
You can call your representative all you want, but the ones inclined to help you have no power, and the ones in power will ignore you. The GOP has discovered that the simplest way to avoid the problem is simply not to talk to constituents. This last election demonstrated that there is no penalty to be paid at the ballot box since voters lack even basic critical thinking skill and it is child’s play to manipulate them and get re-elected in safely gerrymandered districts.
You can go out in the street and protest, and as long as you pose no threat, this will be allowed. As soon as you pose a threat you will be cracked down on, with bloody force if needed.
And yes, the police and the military will fire on their fellow citizens, especially if they have darker skin tones. If you don’t believe that this is true, you have not been paying attention for the last eight years.
And before anyone accuses me of “giving up” and “refusing to fight”, I will be out in the streets, peacefully protesting, until they imprison me or kill me.
Depressed? Yes. Bitter? Yes, very.
Hard not to be when I see the Clintons, the Obamas, the Carters and that the overwhelming majority of the Democratic leadership will be legitimizing the “peaceful” abdication of this country’s sovereignty to a sexual predator, thief, liar, racist, and traitor by attending Trump’s coronation.
